Programme of Events

All activities are free to attend, however some activities require booking. A map of The Courtyard will be provided on arrival indicating where all activities will be taking place.

10.00am – 4.00pm Live Drawing Event

Come along at any point in the day and draw with our artists! This live drawing event is aimed at anyone who wants to get involved in drawing the biggest picture the Courtyard has created yet! Everyone is welcome, open to all ages and abilities.

No need to book, come along at any point for a fun day of drawing!

10.00am – 4.00pm Poetry Booth

Drop into the Courtyard’s poetry booth to have your very own personal poem created! Come and have a 15 minute one to one or small group session with one of our friendly poets. Whether you are living with dementia, or are an individual interested in the process our poets use, come along and see how this unique activity works. Book on the day at the poetry stand.

10.30am Singing for the Brain™ Taster Sessions

These stimulating and social singing sessions ran by the Alzheimer’s Society aim to enhance wellbeing and bring fun and confidence to those living with memory loss and their carers. No need to book, just turn up!

11.00am & 2.30pm Poetry Readings

Two pop up poetry readings by our expert poets. The fascinating and beautiful poetry which will be read has been created by older people living in residential or nursing care, as a part of our In the Pink poetry project. Much of the poetry has been created by people living with memory loss.

1.30pm Stories on Our Doorstep

A selection of short monologues performed by The Courtyard’s Senior Youth Theatre, showcasing the real life, precious and unique stories of older people from across Herefordshire. Earlier this year students carried out interviews on this storytelling and reminiscence theatre project, having the opportunity to meet some fascinating people to create this performance piece.

Booking is essential. Tel: 01432 346535 Email: katrin.cross@courtyard.org.uk

3.00pm – 3.30pm Find Your Feet Taster Session

These taster sessions will give you an insight of what to expect on The Courtyard’s weekly Find Your Feet sessions designed for both people with dementia and their carers. Come along and try something new and enjoy gentle movement to music in a relaxed and social setting.
