Bernard Irwin's approach to his work is celebratory and life affirming, in the act of making, memory and discovery transfigure the subject and present it anew as painting. Ispired my many beautiful gardens, the shifting space and light, it's colours and textures have given him a subject through which to explore a painting language where line and colour are inseperable.
