7 On-Screen Romances That Became Real
We look at the on-screen movie romances that had so much chemistry they ended up blossoming in to real-life relationships!
It happens often, celebrities working closely on set, acting out an intense romance, get swept up in the passion of it all and end up becoming actual couples in love. Not that it’s always as rosy in real-life mind you – Sometimes these romances are the stuff dreams are made of and other times they fizzle out soon after the director yells “cut.”
Here are some of the many film romance that turned into real-life love…
Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton
Two of the silver screen’s biggest legends met on the set of Cleopatra and found epic movie romance turned into epic real-life romance. The pair were married and divorced twice, but Taylor always claimed that Burton was the true love of her life.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Despite starting off on #TeamJen, I must admit that these two have become my favourite celebrity couple. They shook the celeb world, making headlines after meeting on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith and ending what appeared to be the fairy-tale marriage between Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston. But Brangelina proved that nothing can stand in the way of true love, and have a brood of adorable children. They’ve recently collaborated on a new movie, By The Sea, which is the first time these two have shared a screen in over a decade – it will be showing at The Courtyard over Valentine’s weekend.
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan
After locking lips in Step-Up in 2006 and sharing dance sequences where the real magic happened, the couple married in 2009. Since then they’ve had a beautiful baby, seem like the happiest couple in celeb-land and they’re still turning heads while busting moves!
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell
Goldie & Kurt first met while filming The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band in 1968 but it wasn’t until working on the set of Swing Shift in 1983 that romance began to bloom between Hollywood’s golden girl & hearthrob Kurt. They embarked on a decades-long romance and have several children.
Warren Beatty and Annette Bening
Beatty had been a big screen star since the 1950s and was decades older than Bening when they met on the set of the mob biopic Bugsy. That did not stop the two from falling in love, marrying, and having four children together, becoming a Hollywood marriage success story.
Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams
Heath Ledger was the most beautiful man on the planet. Fact. Williams got to cosy up to him in the 2005 critically acclaimed film Brokeback Mountain. Even though they played a reluctantly married couple, as Ledger’s character was a closeted homosexual, the pair embarked on a real life love affair and produced a daughter named Matilda before Ledger’s untimely death in 2008.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner
After the car crash that was the first ‘Ben & Jen’ (aka Affleck & Lopez), Ben redeemed himself with the second coming of Ben and Jen who met on the movie Daredevil. Eventually, an off-screen romance developed and the pair married in 2005 and have since had three children together- however, if the media rumour mill is to be believed, it seems they’ve recently parted ways 🙁
