Big Films for Big Kids this Summer

Our new Marketing Volunteer Alice tells us what films she is looking forward to seeing this summer at The Courtyard!

BFG alternativeThe BFG is the acclaimed filmmaker Steven Spielberg’s magical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s classic. As a lover of Roald Dahl’s writing as a child and a keen reader to this day, I am constantly amazed by the beautiful work being produced inspired from such incredible books. We’ve had Matilda the Musical, Charlie and the Chocolate factory in its many forms and James and the Giant Peach strolling on to stage within recent years but now we finally get to see “The BFG” gaining the recognition it deserves.

Ice Age is happening AGAIN! As if we didn’t love the previous movies enough, the latest entry to the hugely successful animated adventures with Sid, Manny, Diego and Ellie has been released. At The Courtyard’s Family Saturday on 13 August the fun begins at 10.30am when you can learn about woolly mammoths and sabre-toothed tigers before the film. This is the perfect opportunity to involve the whole family and immerse yourselves in a world of Ice Age fun.

Finding Dory

And finally, after what feels like a lifetime of waiting, we get the chance to see Disney Pixar’s Finding Dory which will be screened at The Courtyard at the end of August. There will be a Family Saturdays event for this film on Saturday 27 August with the chance to make your own anemones and decorate with Dory and Nemo before the film at 10.30am. Even as an adult, I am beside myself with excitement for this screening and look forward to a week of smiling faces after viewing this film.

No one is too “grown up” to be visiting the cinema this August to watch these incredible films, as no matter your age, everyone has time for an adventure and the opportunity to relive those childhood memories!
