Benjamin (15)

Borderlines Film Festival
Thursday 1 January 1970
Director: Simon Amstell
Starring: Colin Morgan, Anna Chancellor, Phénix Brossard, Jessica Raine
Duration: 85 minutes

It is no coincidence that Benjamin (Colin Morgan), the protagonist of comedian and TV presenter Simon Amstell’s sequel to Carnage, is a rising star director, about to premiere his problematic second film No Self at the BFI London Film Festival. His insecurities are compounded when Billie, his hard drinking publicist, introduces him to dreamy French musician Noah, and romance beckons if Benjamin doesn’t screw it up – he can’t ‘not talk’. Firmly rooted within the angst-ridden London creative world, Amstell succeeds in drawing out a touching, bittersweet comedy from autobiographical material.
