Byrdsongs is a new programme to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of William Byrd (1543 – 1623). Exploring his life and times, the musicians play consort music and songs by Byrd and his colleagues, including Tallis and Morley, with Madrigals, Catches, Fantasias and folk song settings, including The Woods so Wilde, The Carman’s Whistle and Fortune My Foe. With a glimpse into connections with William Shakespeare, as well as fresh twists on old music in the form of brand new arrangements by members of the group, this promises to be an exciting and beautiful tribute to arguably England’s greatest Renaissance Composer.
Tickets: £18 (students half-price)
