If you’ve ever wished you could experience the joy of reading with your friends in the same way you can a TV show or movie then this is the perfect choice for you. With 3 titles available, you’ll listen to an audiobook together “silent disco style” across 6 weeks and each week there will be the opportunity for discussion while you enjoy delicious canapés prepared by our kitchen. We recommend bringing the craft or portable activity of your choice if you like to keep your hands busy such as crochet, embroidery, or an adult colouring book.
During term 2 you can listen along to your choice of the following titles:
Is A River Alive? by Robert McFarlane
Travel literature/non-fiction
“Personal as well as political, it’s almost as certain to shift readerly perspectives as it is to be a bestseller” – Observer, Nonfiction to look forward to in 2025
Animal by Lisa Taddeo
Thriller
“A compulsive read. Taddeo’s prose glitters with all the dark wit and flashes of insight that readers and critics admired in Three Women . . . Like Coel’s I May Destroy You, Animal is unafraid to wrestle with big questions about sexual empowerment and consent, and doesn’t pretend to have found neat answers.” – Guardian
The Instrumentalist by Harriet Constable
Historical Fiction
“A compassionate coming-of-age tale, inspired by true events, explores youthful ambition and the allure of fame … Constable understands the power music has to sustain us … Compelling, vividly described, magic.” – The Observer
