Duration: 1 hours 42 minutes
Genre: Family/Children's

Based on the popular graphic novel by Sara Varon, this Spanish animation is a dialogue-free, family-friendly love story about friendship. Dog lives in Manhattan. Fed up with being
alone, he builds himself a companion, Robot. Their friendship blossoms, and they become inseparable, exploring the sights and sounds of 1980s New York together. But one summer
night, Dog, with great sadness, is forced to abandon Robot at the beach. Will they ever meet again? The first animation from Berger (Blancanieves) captures perfectly, and with sharp humour, that special zing of symbiosis – and its fragility. Earth, Wind & Fire’s dance-floor filler ‘September’ lights up the soundtrack and, full of nods to silent cinema classics, the film
will delight audiences young and old alike.

The relaxed screening is open to everyone but may benefit individuals with autism spectrum conditions, learning difficulties, sensory and communication difficulties, those living with dementia, parents with young babies; and anyone who feels they would benefit from a more supportive and inclusive cinema-going experience.

How is it different to other films?
Here are some examples of small changes that may be made and additional facilities provided:

  • Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the film starting
  • A chill out area will be available from 1 hour prior to the film starting that you can go to at any point if you need a break during the film
  • Lights will remain on low throughout the film
  • Audience members will be free to move around or take some time out in our designated chill out room
  • There will be an Autism Hour before and after the screening where there will be no music or loud sounds throughout the building.
