The Secret Scripture (12A).

Directed by: Jim Sheridan.
Event runs on 23/6/2017 to – 29/6/2017.

1 hour, 48 minutes

Based on Sebastian Barry’s novel about the tragic life of Rose, a woman confined to an asylum for years for killing her child. When a psychiatrist (Bana) looks into her case Rose reveals her love triangle with a fighter pilot (Reynor) and a priest. Sheridan (My Left Foot, In The Name of the Father) directs a fine cast with the confident touch of an old pro creating an elegantly crafted, expertly acted old-fashioned weepie that manages to sell a whopper of a plot. With her long white hair and distracted, fearful manner, Redgrave provides a vivid picture of a lost soul, locked in the past, condemned to “live in her own little purgatory”.
