Honours Recognition for Roger Morgan

We are pleased to announce that our Chairman, Roger Morgan, has been recognised for his voluntary service to the arts in Herefordshire.

Roger has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Roger, who joined the Courtyard Board in 2007, was elected Chairman in 2009 and asked to remain in position by the trustees until 2019. The honour reflects his voluntary service to the local community in the arts.

By giving many hours of voluntary support and commitment to The Courtyard and through his mentorship, Roger has inspired our entire team. He has been instrumental in guiding The Courtyard through a serious deficit situation to holding a reserve of over £300k.

Ian Archer, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of The Courtyard, said: “Volunteers are a very valuable part of our organisation and Roger has played a huge part in the achievements of The Courtyard. We are very pleased to see that his contribution has been recognised.”

Roger Morgan, Chairman of The Board, said: “It is a great honour to receive such an award. However, the success of The Courtyard is not down to one individual, but to over 150 fellow volunteers at The Courtyard, the excellent professional staff and our many Patrons and Friends.”
