BAR MANAGER

The Courtyard is the primary performing arts venue in Herefordshire presenting a dynamic mix of cultural activity all day, every day and welcoming over 350,000 visitors every year.  The Courtyard Café Bar is at the heart of our public areas and offers everything from artisan coffee and homemade cake to pre-show dining, champagne and canapés.  Aside from serving customers attending The Courtyard, the Café Bar also aims to attract customers in its own right.

We are seeking an individual aged 18+ lead our successful bar.  You will currently hold a BIIAB Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (QCF) qualification, or be able to attain this qualification, and will become out Premises License Holder.  You will possess natural, confident leadership skills, the authority to motivate and lead a team and an excellent customer-focussed attitude.  We are looking for a self-starter who is able to work on their own initiative in order meet objectives set by our Commercial Manager in order to increase turnover and effectively manage our cost base.

The Courtyard is the primary performing arts venue in Herefordshire presenting a dynamic mix of cultural activity all day, every day and welcoming over 350,000 visitors every year.  The Courtyard Café Bar is at the heart of our public areas and offers everything from artisan coffee and homemade cake to pre-show dining, champagne and canapés.  Our salad bar is legendary.  Aside from serving those attending The Courtyard for shows, films and events, the Café Bar also attracts customers in its own right.

We are seeking a hard-working, polite and cheerful individual aged 18+ with an energetic and attentive approach to customer service.  The successful candidate will assist the Bar and Assistant Bar Managers in motivating the team within our busy and fast-paced café bar to ensure that all tasks are fully completed to set standards.

Applicants must possess the desire to lead a team of staff, display an eagerness to learn and be capable of taking the initiative.  They also need a mature and responsible attitude towards customers and colleagues alike, while reinforcing high standards and striving for excellence.

We are seeking cheerful and hard-working individuals aged 18+ to work in our busy café bar serving customers, clearing tables and generally providing excellent standards of customer service.  The café bar is open all day and evening Monday to Saturday and on some Sundays.  We are looking to recruit for all shifts but particularly for evenings and weekends.  These are ongoing rather than short-term roles and candidates who can offer flexibility in terms of varying shifts and hours are of particular interest to us.

Call out for Board Members (Voluntary)

The Courtyard Trust wishes to increase and diversify the membership of its Board and is seeking three dynamic and committed individuals to support our further development and growth to build on our achievements.  The Courtyard is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.

Board Members play an important and integral role in providing advice through their personal expertise, robust internal governance and scrutiny, and externally by supporting our future development.

The Board meets quarterly, and in addition members are expected to join at least one of the sub-committees and attend guest nights for each in-house production.  These are unpaid, non-executive roles and applicants should be passionate and effective advocates for the arts, willing and able to proactively support The Courtyard.

We are seeking those who have experience/an interest in one or more of the following areas: finance, legal, HR, press & PR and an understanding of current trends in the arts.
