Still Alice Success!

Last night Julianne Moore took home the best actress Oscar for her moving performance in the multi award winning Still Alice. In her speech Moore spoke of how happy she was to be able to ‘shine a light on Alzheimer’s disease, so many people with this disease feel isolated and marginalized, and one of the wonderful things about movies are that they make us feel seen and not alone’. Here at The Courtyard we are committed to being a dementia friendly venue and raising awareness about dementia in the wider community. As part of this commitment we will be holding a special screening of Still Alice followed by a post-show discussion with local experts in the field of dementia care.

This screening takes place on 14 April at 2.30pm.

Alongside our training and awareness raising we run a wide range of arts activities for people living with dementia and their carers. From weekly dance sessions held here at The Courtyard, to our flagship residential dementia poetry project In The Pink, to our annual Remember Me event designed as a day of activities for people living with dementia and their carers to attend.
