Trusts & Foundations
Funding from Charitable Trusts & Foundations is extremely important to The Courtyard to support all areas of our work, particularly our community education and outreach projects. However, funding from these sources is predominantly to cover specific project work, and rarely to support core costs. We also frequently need to source alternative funding to match the successful bids, which is where donations and other support from individuals is so key and at times has proven invaluable in terms of drawing down new trust funding.
Recent awards include:
Arts Council England supports The Courtyard with an annual grant of £213,000 and we are a National Portflio Organisation (NPO).
Big Lottery/Reaching Communities programme to support project work with older people, including those with dementia – awarding £344,000 for 3 years (2015-17).
Baring Foundation and ACE £250,000 (2013-15). The Courtyard was one of only 4 organisations nationally to be selected to participate in a programme developing delivery of the arts to older people in care homes throughout the country.
Sylvia Short Trust has supported The Courtyard for around 11 years with regular funding to support coach travel for local schools to enable them to visit Th
Herefordshire Community Foundation (HCF) administrates a range of ‘local’ funds and The Courtyard has benefited from funding via Pippin Trust, the Glencora Fund, the Joanies Fund, the Richard Bulmer Fund and Becket Bulmer Charitable Trust and the Lifestyles Panel. This funding has gone to support a range of community arts projects including our Creative Ageing work with older people and satellite Youth Theatres at Kington and Bromyard.
West Mercia Police & Crime Commissioners’ Fund has funded our arts project work with young people in the Herefordshire Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for the last two years (2015-16 and 2016-17).
Beaumont Trust continues to support The Courtyard’s work with young people, funding the Family Festival for the last two years.
Hereford City Council has awarded a £3,000 grant towards the Family Festival for three years in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
New Grove Trust has awarded a £2,000 grant towards an older people’s project with Newton Farm Community Archive.
Past grants include:
Henry Smith Foundation £71,000 (over 2 years). Funding to support continuation and development of our Creative Ageing programme of arts delivery to older people throughout Herefordshire.
Monument Trust (Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts) gave £15,000 to support new seating in the Main House gallery.
Ernest Cook Trust supported a new Education & Outreach post.
Garfield Weston Foundation gave £10,000 to support new seating in the Main House.
Heritage Lottery Fund Now & Then programme supported our Senior Youth Theatre production Hero in July 2015.
