The Communication Tree | Dancefest

Amy Jude, 19, from Hereford, is a dancer with Jigsaw Performance Company. She joined the company over 4 years ago and is currently working on their next performance, The Communication Tree, which is at The Courtyard on Thursday 5 July at 7.30pm and Friday 6 July at 1pm.

The inclusive company regularly make new dance for performance and have performed at Jigsaw Pieces and The Magical Umbrella in 2016, Creative Minds Conference in Birmingham last year and ReCharge in Worcester earlier this year. They’ve also made a film about their work with Hereford-based artist Jaime Jackson.

Amy is visually impaired and is at the Sixth Form of Barrs Court School. Dance is a very important part of Amy’s life and, as her skills as a dancer have increased, so has her confidence. Recently she’s been doing work experience with Dancefest, helping to run workshops in schools alongside their dance teachers and visual artists from Carnival Arts.

Michele Holder, who leads Dancefest’s Access and Inclusion programme, says: “Amy has been amazing while she’s been helping us in schools. She has such a talent for motivating the young people she’s working with. She’s so positive and her love of dance just shines through”.

The Communication Tree will be in The Courtyard’s Main House on Thursday 5 July at 7.30pm and Friday 6 July at 1pm. To book tickets for The Communication Tree click here, or for more information contact the Box Office on 01432 340555.
