THE COURTYARD WYE 100 CANOE CHALLENGE

Eight dedicated Courtyard staff members will be embarking on a four day canoe challenge down the River Wye from Llyswen (just north of Hay) to Bigsweir Bridge between 11th and 14th August to raise funds for The Courtyard, with a further 4 volunteers doing one day each!

The Wye 100 Canoe Challenge is a staff fundraising initiative to raise Courtyard’s charitable profile while raising money for our growing community work, particularly with older and young people throughout Herefordshire. The challenge will cover a 100 mile course on the River Wye, with team members having to canoe up to 33 miles each day over a period of four days.

Team participant Phil Pearcy, said:

“This is a great challenge where staff can get fit and show our customers that we need to do fundraising challenges like this to remain open. Please dig deep and give generously!”

SCHEDULE:

Day 1 LLyswen – Byecross 32.5 miles
Day 2 Bycross – Hoarwithy 28.5 miles
Day 3 Hoarwithy – Symonds Yat 24.5 miles
Day 4 Symonds Yat – Bigsweir Bridge 15 miles

Lucy Wells, Business Development Manager, commented:

“Fundraising plays a crucial role at The Courtyard to support our Education and Outreach work within the community. We currently deliver up to 1,300 workshops and projects for young people each year, and constantly need additional funds to grow this invaluable programme. We are delighted that our own staff are taking up these challenges to help ensure the venue’s sustainability for the future.”
