Youth Theatre Connections – Kington

Our in-house and community Youth Theatre groups are currently rehearsing and preparing a selected play from National Theatre Connections; a collection of plays specifically written for young people. Lottie Oliver, a member of The Kington Youth Theatre, who are going to be performing ‘Show and Tell’ by Laline Paul, wrote us a little blog…Kington

“This Wednesday’s Youth Theatre began as is convention: all grabbing stools and forming a circle (where we can all be equal); then completing the register and being told any notices. And finally the year 7’s poke fun at Dan’s (our instructor) ‘elf shoes.’”

“With these formalities completed, routine was broken as Dan announced he needed photos of our (yet very raw) play for publicity. This went down as well as you would expect in a room full of very self-conscious teenagers! But after some issues with a shushing hedge and our no-budget lighting, we finished all feeling pleased.”

“After this, only about forty minutes of the session remained so we continued blocking our script. This was until the end of the session plenary where Dan dropped, what was to many, the ground shaking news that we need to have learnt our lines after half-term. This left a much more panicked cast than had begun!”

Come and see Kington Youth Theatre perform on Sunday 2 or Monday 3 April, 6.30pm in The Studio. Tickets can be booked online here, or at Box Office.
