Youth Theatre member won gold in Performing Arts Festival

Youth Theatre member Gethin has won a gold medal in the 2023 Hereford Performing Arts Festival.

We received this lovely message from Gethin’s mum who credits his win to having been a part of Youth Theatre.

Gethin takes home the gold

This is my son Gethin.

I look at this picture with enormous adoration. Here he is acting out a scene from Fantastic Mr Fox.

He recently took part in 3 categories in the Hereford Performing Arts Festival.  Taking home the highest mark of the week in his Group Acted Scene – Non Shakespeare – Junior yr5-7 category.  The gold medal was received humbly, with absolute delight.

An achievement only accomplished through hard work and repetitive practice. He has developed a tenacity for learning his lines, and the resilience required for standing up on an open forum and saying those words without trepidation.

The National Association of Theatres very aptly wrote about Youth Theatre being vital to the personal, social, political, aesthetic and educational development of young people. The education my son receives has, without doubt, supported him to find his place and voice in society.  He has grown from an anxious little boy, into a more confident and adapting child. Youth Theatre has been instrumental in supporting Gethin’s new found love of speech, language and Drama.
