100 New Dementia Friends
Courtyard Dementia Champion, Robyn, has created 100 new dementia friends!
Over a decade ago, The Courtyard became the UK’s first dementia friendly arts venue. Since then, we have provided a space that people with dementia and their carers feel comfortable and safe to visit. We ensure they feel supported to take part in things that are important to them. All our staff and stewards receive dementia awareness training to help them understand the needs of people living with dementia.
As part of this commitment, we have two in house Dementia Champions, trained by the Alzheimer’s Society, who deliver Dementia Friends Information Sessions to our team and the wider public. These sessions teach more about dementia, covering some of the small ways we can help those living with it. Being dementia friendly can make a huge difference to our communities.
This month our Marketing & Audience Development Manager, Robyn, reached the amazing target of creating over 100 dementia friends! This is a fantastic goal as every Friend made is another step towards breaking down the stigma surrounding dementia.
This century marker brings The Courtyard’s total number of Dementia Friends created to 856. We can’t wait to reach 1000!
