40 Days and 40 Nights

We caught up with Courtyard Staff to see what they were giving up for Lent…

Pack up your pancakes, the season of self-restraint is finally upon us. Today marks the start of Lent, and for some, an attempt at a 6 week cleanse until Easter arrives and the chocolate eggs are rolled out. Unsurprisingly the most popular things for people in the UK to give up are chocolate, sweets, alcohol or absolutely nothing at all.

Giving up social media

We’ve been finding out what sacrifices will be topping the list this year among The Courtyard staff…

Caitlin, Marketing Intern is going on a digital detox and ‘abstaining from iphone activity first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I’m going to go back to reading’.

Melanie, Business Development Manager is surrendering all crisps and nuts ‘because I love them, but they don’t love me’.

Fish Lent

Zacharis, Bar & Catering Assistant is going the full mile and ‘giving up fish, meat and dairy.’

Katie, Finance Assistant will be sacrificing online shopping because ‘it’s a slight addiction and it’s gotten to the point where I won’t go real shopping. I even ordered my Christmas wrapping paper online!’

Running Lent

Jo, Marketing Officer is ‘giving up pretending that I’m going to go to the gym’.

Finally, Natasha, Mel and David from our Admin Office are all unanimously ‘giving up stress’. If only…

The bar has been set high this year but as Melanie said, ‘if it’s written down, I won’t be able to fudge it.’
