AUDITIONS FOR WUTHERING HEIGHTS – PROFESSIONAL CAST

Over the past 9 years The Courtyard Centre for the Arts has produced its own in-house shows bringing together professional actors, youth theatre members and members of the local community to stage a well-known classic story.  Past productions include Pride & Prejudice, Great Expectations, Jane Eyre, The Secret Garden and Lord of the Flies. This is a very exciting opportunity that combines talent development and excellence in performance as the experience blends the talent and skills of the professional performers and passes those skills on to the youth theatre and community actors.

This year’s production is Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë (adapted for the stage by April de Angelis).  The tale starts when a young, orphaned boy who is living rough at the docks in Liverpool is taken in by a wealthy gentleman.  The boy is given the name Heathcliff and then lives with the Earnshaws.  The tale follows the lives of Heathcliff and Cathy Earnshaw as their passionate love for each other brings them together, but then the decisions they make destroy their own lives and the lives of those around them.  It is a tragic tale in which we see all the emotions and human desires played out in Georgian society.

We are now looking to cast two professional actors for the roles of Heathcliff and Cathy; the professionals will work alongside the youth and community cast to inspire and pass on their knowledge and skills as performers to the next generation.  See over for the character breakdowns.

Information about the auditions and contract can be found in the downloads.  If you would like to be considered for an audition, please respond to our call-out on Spotlight if you (or your agent) are a member; this is our preferred casting platform.  If you are not on Spotlight, then please email your CV (including headshot) to mel.langford@courtyard.org.uk by 25 June 2025.

We look forward to hearing from you…
