HMTC: Sister Act Nuns go on tour in Hereford

Dig out your platform shoes & flares, dust of your disco dance moves – Sister Act the Musical Comedy, based on the smash hit film is just a few weeks away from opening at The Courtyard.

We catch up with Hereford Musical Theatre Company to see how rehearsals are going…

Nuns, Gangsters, Disco Divas and even the Pope, we have them all amongst our fifty strong cast, thirty of which are playing the Nuns! Sister Act has been a thoroughly enjoyable challenge, there’s a great energy about the show with a huge team spirit shining through, and everyone is working so hard to make this show a truly memorable one. Its sheer size has been daunting but the ‘get stuck in’ attitude of all involved has been quite inspiring. Rehearsals are getting intense now with the cast attending up to three rehearsals per week, there is still lots to do, but we make sure we have fun doing it. The script is hilariously funny and we have cried with laughter at creating the wonderful array of characters.

Sister Act is a huge sing too, mainly harmonies, some into eight parts! We at H.M.T.C do love the challenge of tackling complex harmonies, and we are lucky to have a wonderful Musical Director who has given us the tools and the confidence to really do these justice. The clever choreography is fast paced and fun, and really makes the show sparkle!
