Actors Academy December Showcase

Our students produced an impressive showcase last Saturday evening, enjoyed by friends and family and invited guests.

The Evening began with scenes from “A Dolls House” by Ibsen, showcasing the work of our first six weeks focussing on Naturalism. We looked in depth at techniques of Stanislavski and Uta Hagen and experimented with applying these to two classical pieces which embody naturalism.  Students chose “A Dolls House” to showcase their work.

Next on the programme was a showcase from our writing for performance group.  Students from our senior youth theatre showcased “script in hand” 3 short pieces, “Second Impressions”, “The Right Choice” and “In my Opinion”.  Audience were delighted by a mixture of comedy, suspense and social commentary.

Students concluded the evening with scenes from “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime”.  They spent the last 5 weeks of term working on Physical Theatre, inspired by a workshop with Physical Theatre School,  Fourth Monkey.

We are excited for next term which sees the student working on Monologue and Audition techniques. Guests include Professional Performer Eliot Gooch, Director Ant Stones, and Vocal Coach Cathy Hart.
