Alto-Holic raises £800 in memory of Alex Evans

On Friday 17 November, the audience filled the Studio Theatre at The Courtyard for fundraising performance Alto-Holic.

Alto-Holic, a one woman show from Madeleine MacMahon, was performed in tribute to Alex Evans, a treasured staff member at The Courtyard and part of the Herefordshire creative community who sadly passed away in May this year. The evening featured songs and stories exploring the highs and lows of Madi’s alto range and life in a moving and poignant performance.

The evening raised £800 for The Alex Evans Fund and all proceeds from the performance will go to support young people in Herefordshire seeking to develop skills in performing arts and to counselling services for young people in the area.

Madeleine, who has performed in The Courtyard’s annual pantomime for the last seven years is currently in rehearsal for this year’s production of Sleeping Beauty where she will play Queen Octavia.

Madeleine MacMahon, said: “It was amazing to see so many familiar faces come out in memory of Alex. There were laughs and tears, and that’s a good night, as far as I’m concerned. It’s important to celebrate and I can’t believe how much money it raised. Thank you so much to everyone who came!”
