The Courtyard is launching a brand new visual arts project for those aged 16 – 25, called Cultivate@Courtyard.
Cultivate@Courtyard is an opportunity for emerging artists aged 16 – 25 with a link to Herefordshire to showcase their work and receive mentorship from a professional artist. The project invites artists to submit a technically accomplished and resolved piece of artwork or craft, along with supporting evidence in the form of a sketchbook or drawings .
From the submissions, three chosen artists will be shortlisted by a panel of judges. They will then be mentored by professional artist and jeweller Maria Morgan as they work towards producing an exhibition at The Courtyard and Old Mayor’s Parlour Gallery in May 2018, with the overall winner being presented £1000.
David Durant, Associate Director at The Courtyard, says: “We are really excited to be launching Cultivate@Courtyard this summer. At The Courtyard we take great pride in developing and cultivating new talent by offering opportunities such as these, and we can’t wait to see what the selected artists will produce.”
Maria Morgan, Project Co-ordinator, says: “Cultivate@Courtyard is a really exciting project which will support emerging artists to raise their artistic profile and develop skills. Herefordshire is full of creative talent and I am really looking forward to mentoring the three individuals as they prepare for their exhibition.”
Submissions are now open for Cultivate@Courtyard and the deadline will be Friday 1 September 2017. For more information and to download the project pack please visit courtyard.org.uk/visualarts
