What is Off Grid?

The Courtyard Hereford and Arts Alive proudly present Off Grid – a ‘scratch night’ showcasing the brightest emerging and experienced talent across all art forms.

From raw scripts to avant-garde choreography, soul-stirring poetry to innovative short films, Off Grid offers a unique opportunity to experience art in its purest form – daring, unfiltered, and on the cutting edge of creativity.

Artists performing as part of Off Grid will need to apply to be part of the event and a selection panel of industry professionals will make a final selection of artists to allocate performance slots to.

Following the event, The Courtyard Hereford and Arts Alive will open a dialogue with the shortlisted artists to support them in securing a full performance of their work within a studio setting and / or on the rural touring network at a later date

Who can apply to take part?

Off Grid is open to professional performance artists or companies of any genre looking for a platform to showcase their work. Each shortlisted artist will be given a 20-minute timeslot to perform an excerpt from their work to a live audience.

Important Dates & How to Apply

Applications Open: Friday 1 August 2025
Applications Close: Friday 19 September 2025
Shortlisted Artists Notified*: Wednesday 1 October 2025
Performance Date: Tuesday 21 October (rehearsal Monday 20 October)

Renumeration:
Where possible, reasonable travel and expenses will be reimbursed. Please provide details in your application.

Rehearsal Time:
Those shortlisted will be given a rehearsal and tech on Monday 20 October, therefore it is important that you are able to attend on both Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 October at The Courtyard, Hereford.

Why is it important?

Cultural organisations must play their part in ensuring the creativity and talent pipeline is nurtured. There is a wealth of talent locally and regionally but it can often be daunting and difficult to find a space to grow your work and take it to the next level.

Off Grid offers artists an opportunity to perform / exhibit in front of a live audience, network and receive feedback from industry professionals and opens doors to rural touring and small-scale touring options available to them.
