Formed in 2016, the Agate Quartet gets its name from one of the most beautiful pages of chamber music, the Second Sextet by Johannes Brahms, which the latter dedicated to his second love, Agathe von Siebold. Seven years later, this fascination with Brahms finally materialised with the recording of an album of the complete String Quartets which was released in February 2024 under the Appassionato Record label.

The Agate Quartet has performed in numerous international competitions and festivals (Prize for best contemporary interpretation at the BANFF International String Quartet Competition 2022, Public Prize at the Steels-Wilsing Competition 2020, Verbier Festival 2019) and in 2021 won the prestigious Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) auditions in London. In 2023 they were named ECHO Rising Star and will embark on a tour of European venues for the 24/25 season.

This event will be held at Hellens, Much Marcle HR8 2LY
