SPACE – Light Show at Hereford Cathedral
Wednesday 16 October – Saturday 19 October 2024

Visit Hereford Cathedral this October and step out into ‘Space’, the cathedral’s first interior son et lumière light and sound show, produced by Luxmuralis. Experience the cathedral in a whole new way as you walk amongst the stars and planets. This unique event gives viewers the opportunity to ponder our relationship with the universe through light and sound installations projected onto the stunning architecture. Discover the creation story and the Big Bang within this sacred space and view the final image of Earth as if looking back from space under a galaxy of stars. Book your tickets now for an unforgettable journey to the edge of the universe and back.

The ‘Space’ light show is an immersive visual artwork displayed within the cathedral building on four nights from Wednesday 16 October to Saturday 19 October. Visitors are invited to walk through the cathedral and view the visual simulation and accompanying soundtrack. The cathedral shop will be open selling gifts. This event is suitable for all ages, including young children. The route within the cathedral is pram-friendly.

Tickets cost £9 for adults, £6 for children (3 – 16), and under 3s go free. Admission is at 20-minute entry windows from 6.20pm with last entry at 9pm. The event will end at 10pm. To book please select an entry time. Please note that this entry time indicates when we will allow entry, via the North Door, into the cathedral. We would recommend arriving 15 minutes before your chosen entry slot and have your tickets ready to show to a member of staff on the door. Once inside, the experience will last approximately 45 minutes.

Accessibility:

The light show is an immersive sensory experience. There will be flashing lights throughout and music will occasionally be loud, we recommend bringing your own ear defenders if required.

The building will be in darkness, except for projected light displays which will help guide visitors along the route. The route through the light show is step free and level, however due to the nature of the building, the floor can be uneven in places and the space will be dark, so please take extra care. There are accessible toilet facilities on site.

We aim to provide the best possible experience whilst enjoying the light projections. Please contact events@herefordcathedral.org and let member of the team know if you have any additional needs during your visit. A free Carer’s ticket can be booked via The Courtyard.
