A new exhibition is on show at The Courtyard this June, featuring the work of two local artists.
Members of the 1+1 = group, Kathleen Packwood and Sue Purcell present Half & Half with guest artist Christian Parkes.
Half & Half is an exuberant mix of black and white drawings and prints alongside energetic paintings of vibrant colour which the group will present in a time line from monochrome to coloured works of art. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, the group use a diverse mix of materials including tinted charcoal, pastels, acrylics, oils, ink and graphite through both traditional and contemporary styles.
Kathleen is an established artist, has taught and run workshops in a variety of settings and lives and works on the Herefordshire-Welsh border. A printmaker and mixed media artist, her work aims to highlight abstract qualities using nature at the heart of her thinking process.
Sue Purcell, who originally trained as a textile designer, has lived in the upper Wye Valley for almost thirty years. After working for the Laura Ashley Company in the textile design studio in Carno, Wales, she ventured into freelance art and design work. In this exhibition her main inspiration has been the colours, forms and textures of palaeontology and geology.
Guest artist Christian Parkes works in South Devon and creates visionary artwork with careful planning and spontaneous Fusionart techniques.
The exhibition features in The Courtyard’s gallery and canyon spaces, and is free to enter.
