Give The Green Light Appeal 2024

As of April 2025, we have successfully raised £361,000 to complete the changeover to LED stage lighting in all three of our performance spaces: Main House, Studio and Nell Gwynne in August 2025.

Thanks to everyone that has supported this appeal, from individuals including our stewards, supporters such as the Patrons, the general public, theatre companies and local businesses. In particular, we would like to gratefully acknowledge support from the following trusts & foundations: Garfield Weston Foundation, Foyle Foundation, The Clive Richards Foundation, Bernard Sunley Foundation, The Brailsford Charity and Theatres Trust/Wolfson Foundation.

This vital conversion to LEDs will slash our electricity usage by 90%, cutting our carbon footprint by 9,000 kgs yearly too. The financial savings mean more resources for our growing community education and outreach programme. We’ve been on a mission to go green for the past decade – championing initiatives from recycling to harnessing solar power with PV panels on our roof – to move closer to our net zero emissions goal by 2035. The donations given are an investment in a brighter, greener future for our community and beyond. Together, the community is lighting up The Courtyard and our world with possibility!

Donors who purchased an LED outright (from £775+) have now been invited to put their name on a 10-year seat plaque in the Main House and will be invited to a demonstration of the new lighting when installed.
