Kid Lit 2022 Competition winners announced!
After much deliberation, due to the high standard of stories received this year, we are pleased to announce that the winners of Kid Lit 2022 are….
Age 5 – 8 Category
Winner: Ophelia Morgan-Dew, age 7.

Congratulations Ophelia, we all enjoyed your humorous, detailed and original story “What’s under the Bed?”.
Runner up: Oliver Hill, age 8 from Riverside Primary School.
Congratulations Oliver! Your story “Charlie’s Surprise” was an enjoyable, mature and descriptive time travel experience into Ancient Greece.
Age 9 – 12 Category
Winner: Daisy Fleetwood, age 11 from Lord Scudamore Academy.

Congratulations Daisy! Your story was incredibly emotive with a maturity of writing and vocabulary that is exceptional.
Runner up: Ava Tower-White, age 9 from Riverside Primary School.
Congratulations Ava! Your story transported us to a land of monsters and dragons with excellent descriptive work, mature vocabulary and an original story that left us wanting more!
A massive congratulations to all of our winners and runners up and thank you so much to all entrants this year, the standard was incredibly high, the judges struggled to agree!
Kid Lit Project
Kid Lit is The Courtyard’s Children’s Literacy Project supporting our community in promoting literacy, creative writing and writing resilience following an unprecedented time in our children’s education.
The Kid Lit project includes literacy workshops with established authors and poets and a 500 word short story-writing competition for children between the ages of 5 and 12.
