About the workshop

“As the expression goes “self-consciousness is the death of acting.'” says Lisle. “That’s because it makes us doubt ourselves and our creative decisions – it’s really annoying!

One of the ways to help new actors get past it, relax and give their best performance when they have limited film experience is to demystify the process. Once they understand how their performance will be affected by the position of the camera and the framing of the shot they can forget about it and just act. Once they understand how lighting will change as they move they can find the light every time. Once they understand the basic process of blocking, rehearsing and shooting a scene they can simply enjoy it.

Shooting a film is a dynamic, spontaneous and fun thing to do. Hopefully this workshop can show that the process is both easy to learn and also nothing to worry about.”

The Actors Academy: Acting For Film workshop is on Saturday 17 May, 11am – 1pm. The workshop is for children in school years 9-13 (ages 13-18).
