We Love Volunteers!

Stewarding at Family FestivalThis weekend marks the end of National Volunteers Week, an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK. At The Courtyard we are very fortunate to have a huge range of volunteers who support us within our work.

One of our biggest volunteer teams are our stewards. We have nearly one hundred active stewards that support with all of our events and their tasks range from selling ice creams to assisting customers to their seats.

Katie Owen, Deputy House Manager, said: “We rely on having a reliable, committed team that are both welcoming and friendly which The Courtyard is very proud of. I personally would be lost without them!”

We are also very lucky to have Youth Theatre Assistants (Youth Theatre members from Year 8-10) who support practitioners when delivering their sessions.

Olivia Gray, Youth Theatre Assistant, said: “The Youth Theatre assisting has already given me so much including confidence and I think it is a great idea as it gets us ready for future events when we need to have control as well as the initiative to overcome problems.”

Every week, ‘Press Cutters’ Peggy & Laurie support The Communications Team by volunteering to read through local newspapers for any mention of The Courtyard which they then pass onto the team to be logged. We also have our ambassadors who drop off leaflets in local areas to support us in reaching new audiences!
