Write On Festival returns for 2017
The Write On Festival returns to The Courtyard this weekend with a diverse and throught-provoking evening of brand new writing.
Write On Festival: Scratch Night will consist of five exciting new plays written by local Herefordshire playwrights, and will feature raw, unpolished and hard-hitting performances in a fantastic showcase of local talent.
The evening will feature the writing of Gillian Parsons, Alison Leigh, Dan Pegler, Tony Hobbs and Trudie Wingfield. With content ranging from family rivalries and mystery men to challenging relationships, it will be a great opportunity to enjoy fresh new work in its early stages.
This year the writers have also teamed up with The Courtyard’s Youth Theatre for their IGNITE showcase. The Youth Theatre will take to the stage on Sunday 16 July to perform six more brand new pieces written by the Write On group.
Ellen Dorsett, Youth & Communities Participation Manager, says: “At The Courtyard we take great pleasure in supporting new writers and Scratch Night is a brilliant opportunity to showcase some very talented playwrights. By teaming up with our Youth Theatre this year we are offering a platform which can really showcase developing talent in Herefordshire.”
Write On Festival Scratch Night will be in The Courtyard’s Studio Theatre on Saturday 15 July.
IGNITE 2017 will be in the Main House on Sunday 16 July.
