Your Bard: A Familiar Face Returns to Hereford

A familiar face will return to Hereford this month as Nicholas Collett Productions present Your Bard at The Courtyard.

Your Bard opens with Professor Nother giving a talk about Shakespeare authorship in the function room at the Shakespeare pub as he doesn’t believe the man from Stratford wrote those plays. That’s Shakespeare’s cue to kick the door off the hinges and defend his reputation!

Nicholas Collett

Taking the lid off a legend in your local, he’ll tell you all about his family, what it’s like on tour and the glory days at the Globe.  Queen Elizabeth I, Christopher Marlowe and Ned Alleyn – you’ll meet them too.  Intermingled with a few of his greatest hits – and maybe a sonnet or a song.

Nicholas Collett is no stranger to Hereford audiences, having made his first appearance as Dame in Mother Goose at the old Nell Gwynne in 1995 – and, as Nick says, he closed the theatre! He has also toured here regularly with his company Third Party – and were the first touring company to play in The Courtyard with The Alchemist. He starred as Widow Twankey in Aladdin in 2004 and became Dame and Director of the next three pantos – Cinderella, Dick Whittington and Snow White.

He has also featured regularly on TV including Knightmare, Timebusters, The Bill and The Friday Night Project. You might know him from many TV commercials – he won the British Arrows Best Performance by an Actor award in 2016 for the Currys PC World ad Laptop – kissing Jeff Goldblum.

Nicholas Collett Productions will present Your Bard at The Courtyard on Fri 23 June.
