Youth Theatre Three Counties Festival

Fun had by all!

The first big Youth Theatre event took place last month! The Courtyard Youth Theatre’s Year 9 group were lucky enough to be asked to take part in the second ever Three Counties Festival at The Swan Theatre in Worcester. Here’s how it went…

The day itself…

Armed with a box of props and plenty of snacks we were on the coach and excited for a day of workshops and performances!

A few weeks ago we had been given the theme of “Living In The Moment.” We liked the idea of creating scenes around specific moments in people’s lives and took that as our inspiration. Molly, Zofia and Joseph went for the intriguing “The moment you realise you’re in trouble” and Anne, Zac and Jonah took the title “The moment you got fired.” Both scenes were packed full of high energy slap-stick humour and we couldn’t wait to share them with the audience.

As well as performing, we were also treated to workshops from practitioners from Cheltenham Everyman and Worcester Theatres, looking at script work and movement through music. It was great for our Youth Theatre to work with different practitioners, as well as watch some truly talented young people perform on The Swan’s main stage.

Then it was just time for a quick quiz (complete with musical sing-a-longs) before we were on our way home, with lots of talk of new friends made, new skills learnt and how we couldn’t wait to be back next year!
