Friends & Patrons

Join us!

The Courtyard has over 1,100 core supporters – Friends, Patrons and Life Patrons – who belong to our individual memberships scheme. Our members and donors recognised via the Derek Jacobi Courtyard Circle are the backbone of our organisation through their dedication to the arts and their great support of our work in Herefordshire and beyond. Our members give regularly and generously to The Courtyard, not just financially, but in terms of volunteer time – many are also stewards – and as ambassadors for our wide ranging community arts programmes eg with older people who have dementia.

In exchange, our memberships provide a range of benefits, from ticket discounts to priority booking and Café Bar points which can be converted into free drinks and snacks, as well as regular socialising opportunities at Patron level and above.

For that special and unique present, why not give a membership as a gift for a birthday, Christmas or that special anniversary?

Become a Friend or a Patron here online, or for further information contact Box Office on 01432 340555.

Please note that, as of 5 April 2017, our Friends & Patrons scheme changed. The new scheme is outlined in the New Membership Scheme leaflet that can be downloaded from this page. If you hold a current ‘older style’ membership with us, your benefits will remain unchanged until your membership renews within the next 12 months. You will then be able to choose which membership level will suit you in future.

The Life Patron/Life Patron Plus scheme closed on 31 December 2016 but all existing Life Patrons will continue receiving their benefits as agreed when they joined the scheme.

The Derek Jacobi Courtyard Circle, named after Honorary Patron, Sir Derek Jacobi, now exists to recognise and thank those individuals who have kindly donated £500 or more to The Courtyard at any one time and in any one year.

The following ‘coffee and chats’ are open to Patrons, Patron Pluses, existing Life Patrons and Life Patron Pluses. Please RSVP for all coffee & chats, below, so we can get catering numbers right. Contact Oliver Wheatley on 01432 346506 or email

Legacy Month September 2017

We’ve been included in Tesco’s community vote scheme to win some funding for a young people’s project here at The Courtyard. If you shop in Tesco during July or August, ask the sales assistant for tokens which you can use to vote for us in the special voting containers. Our project is called Wildplay and we’re offering free places to disadvantaged children next Spring to get creative in our garden area with Herefordshire Wildlife Trust. They will learn about nature and the environment in a very hands on way, installing bug hotels, bird boxes and pollinating plants … We already had £326 support from Waitrose Hereford towards the project and Tesco funding could be anything between £1,000 to £4,000 – the more votes, the more we will receive. Thank you!

“For me, the Friends & Patrons scheme is not about what you can get out of it but what I can put in through my support.”

“The Courtyard has been my lifeline and has played an important part in who I am today.”

“Without The Courtyard, I can honestly say our lives would be that much poorer.”

“So much of the arts would be unreachable, were it not for The Courtyard … I appreciate all these things which have a great impact on my life and make me a happier and livelier person. Long may The Courtyard flourish!”
